Job Title: Histotechnician
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: 1924 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920
Shift: 3rd Shift | Monday–Friday | 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
Position Summary
The Histotechnician will perform routine and specialized paraffin histotechnology duties in a state-of-the-art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the supervision of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, this role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic material within established turnaround times while maintaining compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

Embed, cut, stain, and process tissue samples within the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.

Perform accurate gross descriptions of tissue samples.

Execute quality control procedures and maintain accurate documentation.

Operate laboratory instruments and equipment according to established procedures.

Identify and troubleshoot equipment or testing issues; escalate as appropriate.

Meet productivity and turnaround time standards, including routine and STAT testing.

Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results per laboratory protocol.

Assist in identifying and analyzing inconsistent or abnormal results.

Review results for accuracy and completeness before releasing them in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Maintain compliance with CAP and CLIA standards.
Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related life science.

Formal Histology training from an accredited program (minimum 720 hours).

Meets CLIA personnel standards.

State licensure (required in CA, FL, NY where applicable).
