Accounts Payable Accountant

Location: Denver, Co.
Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000
Schedule: Flexible hybrid schedule, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a fast-growing, technology-driven organization seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant to join its collaborative finance team.

The Accounts Payable Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial operations while helping modernize and streamline payables processes. You’ll work closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure vendors are paid accurately, reporting deadlines are met, and systems continue to scale with company growth.

Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Accountant manages the full-cycle accounts payable function across multiple entities while supporting month-end close activities and financial compliance. This Accounts Payable Accountant role serves as a key liaison between vendors, internal departments, and the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Accountant

  • Process high-volume vendor invoices, expense reports, purchase orders, and credit memos

  • Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments through ACH, wire, and check processing

  • Review invoice coding and approvals across multiple general ledgers

  • Manage AP aging reports and proactively resolve discrepancies

  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities

  • Prepare accruals and support financial reporting requirements

  • Support annual 1099 preparation and filings

  • Partner with internal teams to resolve invoice or payment issues

  • Administer corporate card and expense management programs

Accounts Payable Accountant Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounts payable or accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of AP workflows, internal controls, and accounting fundamentals

  • Experience working in multi-entity or high-growth environments preferred

  • ERP system experience required (NetSuite or similar strongly preferred)

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong communication and vendor relationship management skills
