Strategic Procurement Manager
A growing organization in West Michigan is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager to lead sourcing initiatives and drive value across the supply chain. This role is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that align with operational and financial objectives, while optimizing supplier relationships and ensuring consistent quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.
This individual will partner closely with cross-functional teams—including Operations, Finance, Quality, and R&D—to support business goals, product innovation, and continuous improvement efforts. The role also plays a key part in analyzing market trends, managing supplier performance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
Overview
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with operational and financial goals
Drive value creation through supplier optimization, cost savings, and risk mitigation
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Quality, and R&D
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing strategies across key categories (raw materials, packaging, indirect spend)
Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations
Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks to inform decision-making
Drive supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews
Lead cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate cross-functionally to support product innovation and operational efficiency
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for procurement categories
Contribute to sustainability, risk management, and supply continuity initiatives
Mentor and support junior procurement team members
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
7–10+ years of procurement experience
2+ years of leadership experience
Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Experience
Experience in a regulated or manufacturing environment
Market-based sourcing strategies
Global sourcing and logistics exposure
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
Certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPIM
Experience working with distributed or remote teams
Exposure to tolling and turnkey models
