Property Accountant
Full-Time | Hybrid | Washington, DC
We’re seeking a motivated, hands-on Property Accountant to support full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of affordable housing and multifamily real estate assets. This role works closely with asset management, development managers, and property managers and plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting across operating and development properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle accounting for multifamily and affordable housing properties
- Review and reconcile third‑party property manager financials
- Track GP/LP activity, fees, releases, and investor reporting
- Monitor intercompany loans, transactions, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support audits, tax prep, surplus cash calculations, and workpaper packages
- Manage construction draws, CIP activity, loan transactions, and bank reconciliations
- Collaborate on budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Support transitions from development to operations and ensure GAAP compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA preferred
- 3–7 years of accounting experience—real estate, LIHTC, multifamily, or affordable housing strongly preferred
- Strong GAAP knowledge, financial statement prep, and audit coordination
- Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct a plus
- Advanced Excel skills
