Key responsibilities of the Senior Staff Accountant
- Lead and execute monthly close to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Serve as primary support and back-up for Accounting Manager; independently troubleshoot and resolve accounting issues
- Drive audit readiness and coordinate year-end external audits for a clean, efficient process
- Analyze and improve current processes; champion solutions in partnership with leadership
- Elevate team effectiveness by sharing expertise, collaborating on cross-functional needs, and developing process understanding
Preferred qualifications of the Senior Staff Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive accounting experience (preferably within a non-profit industry) with advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables)
- Proven ability to solve problems independently and operate with analytical rigor
