Job Description
Position Title: Solution Architect
Contract Length: 6 Months with possible extension up to 2 years
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday | 37.5 hours/week | Standard Business Hours
Line of Business (LOB): Personal & Business Banking Canada and Digital (B2C)
Interview Process
Must-haves: 3+ years as a Solution Architect in a large enterprise, 10+ years in enterprise/application/information architecture, strong microservices, REST/JSON, SOA, data modeling, cloud architecture, interface design experience, and solid understanding of TOGAF & BIAN frameworks.

Interview Process
- One in-person round (60–90 minutes) with the Hiring Manager and technical team member.
- Focus will be on prior experience and resume content.
The Personal & Business Banking Canada group delivers technical solutions for customer- and employee-facing applications, focusing on new application development and enhancements for digital banking products. The Solution Architect will support initiatives within digital channels, credit cards, and digitization programs.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Play a critical role in designing and implementing enterprise-level solutions.
- Participate in the socialization and adoption of technical solutions by business sponsors.

The successful candidate will work closely with:
- A collaborative team of Solution Architects (FTE and contractors).
- Account Managers who represent the business.
- Business Analysts supporting requirements gathering and clarification.
Architecture & Design
- Lead and manage technical solutions for enterprise programs and portfolio projects.
- Build scalable and effective solutions based on business requirements provided by AMs and BAs.
- Produce conceptual and logical architectures aligned with business, financial, and technology objectives.
- Create detailed documentation including system architectures, process flows, and value chains.
- Ensure solution designs comply with internal standards and external regulations.
- Evaluate trade-offs between time-to-market, quality, and cost.
- Work closely with Account Managers and Business Analysts to clarify application requirements.
- Attend and contribute to requirements and analysis meetings.
- Consolidate requirements and communicate them back to AMs for business approval.
- Engage with Enterprise Architecture to determine feasibility, alignment, and impact of enhancements or new solutions.
- Present and defend proposed solutions in various governance forums.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic direction.
- Support planning, decision-making, and solution adoption across business and technology teams.
- 3+ years as a Solution Architect in a large enterprise environment.
- 10+ years of experience across enterprise, application, and information architecture.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture, databases, and data modeling techniques.
- Expertise in real-time and batch interface design, sequence diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong experience with microservices architecture.
- Proficiency in RESTful/JSON schema design and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of relational database structures and modeling.
- Strong cloud architecture skills.
- Solid understanding of TOGAF and BIAN frameworks.
- Experience in Agile delivery environments.
- Banking/financial services experience.
- Experience with digitization initiatives.
- Experience supporting mobile or online banking channels.
- Exposure to mortgage, ATM, branch, or call center banking systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong facilitation and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and defend architectural decisions.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- TOGAF or equivalent certification (preferred).
