Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Duration: 3+ months
Location: 10401 Old Georgetown Rd #304Bethesda, MD 20814
Shift Hours: 1st Shift/ 8am-5pm M-F
Vaccine Requirement: TB
Summary
The Phlebotomist II will assist in performing a variety of clinical and laboratory duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and complete decontamination tasks.

Record maintenance data and update patient information accurately.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine, fecal) to patients.

Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Accurately interpret and follow physician orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order.

Verify requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

Package and prepare specimens for transport, maintaining integrity through proper storage and temperature requirements.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations at all times.

Attend annual departmental trainings.

Answer phone calls and relay laboratory results as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (required in some states).

2–4 years of experience, with at least 6 months performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.
