Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Duration: 3 months
Location: 4017 Hwy 17 S Murrels Inlet, SC 29476
Shift:1st/ 7am-4pm M-F
Vaccine Requirements: TB, Color vision required
Summary
The main function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas.

Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.

Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture or other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine, fecal) to patients.

Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Accurately interpret and follow physician orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order.

Verify requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature, storage, and labeling to maintain specimen integrity.

Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department training.

Answer phone calls and relay laboratory results when required.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (required in some states).

Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

0–2 years of relevant experience.
