Job Description
Job Title: Float Phlebotomist II
Location: - Float needed for specifically Erie Family Health - Waukegan, IL. but needs to be flexible for all other locations under this supervisor
Naperville, Merrionette Park, Palos Park, Mokena, Chicago, Palos Heights, Tinley Park, Waukegan, Evanston, Oak Brook, Munster, IN, Chicago Heights
Train in Eerie Evingston – about 30 minutes away
Duration: 3 months
Schedule- M, Tues, Thursday and Friday: 8:30AM-5:30 PM Wednesday: 10:00AM-7:00PM
Vaccines required:
2-dose Varicella vaccine series or titer
2-dose Measles vaccine series or titer
Tdap (once in lifetime) and Td within the last 10 years
Tuberculosis screening within 12 months of date of hire
Flu Vaccination (applicable October 1st - April 1st)
Complete COVID-19 Vaccination Series (fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days past the final dose of a vaccination series)Color vision required.
Interview Mode: Onsite

Pediatrics & geriatrics required.
Hard sticks and needles, urine, thyroid testing
Description:
Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
Package specimens for transport.
Stores specimen samples according to the required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
Minimum of 1 year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED
