Job Title: Linguist III
Duration: 12 months
Location: Remote (Ideally west coast but open to all US time zones)
Summary:

• Analytical Data Linguist needed! Applicants should have data analysis, Python, and SQL backgrounds. You will be evaluating and reporting on human annotations on large scale linguistic and multimodal data informing product performance.
• The Linguists hired in this role will be performing deep dive analyses and annotations to ensure client voice product quality.

Must-Have Skills:

• Python, SQL, LLMs.
• Knowledge of human annotation workflows including annotation metrics and applied statistical methods.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Data science background
• Academic linguistics background preferred. Masters or PHD preferred

Years of overall experience required:

• 1-3 years linguistic experience post bachelor’s degree, will accept master/PhD programs as experience

Degrees/certifications required:

• Bachelor’s degree in linguistics, language technologies, computational linguistics, speech science, statistics, computer science, or related field.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct experiments evaluating end-to-end quality.
• Develop manual and automated processes for multiple concurrent projects including ensuring high-quality label alignments, annotation fidelity, and guideline adherence.
• Create and perfect human and automated annotation solutions for text, audio, image, and video data.
• Use LLMs in ad-hoc automated reporting.

Skills:

• Academic linguistics background preferred.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in linguistics, language technologies, computational linguistics, speech science, statistics, computer science, or related field.

Surrounding team & key projects:

• End to end human evaluation of voice systems, etc.

How will performance be measured:

• Meeting deadlines, executing tasks with accuracy, active participation in discussion in product quality feature, accurate reporting of product quality feature, proactive discussion and follow-up on questions relating to quality reports.

Interview Process:

• How many rounds of interviews: 2 rounds (1st round will be screening with CWAM, 2nd round will be with an IC on team)
• Types of Interviews: Behavioral and coding
• Interview Duration: 45 mins for both
