Job Title: Financial Analyst Location: Irvine, CA 92612 (Hybrid: Monday & Friday Remote; Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday Onsite) Duration: 6 Months (with possible extension based on business needs and performance)
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Analyst to support financial management, project portfolio budgeting, and procurement operations for our Commercial Technology organization. This role requires a professional who can seamlessly balance tactical day-to-day operations—such as managing shopping carts and researching invoice issues—with broader portfolio management, financial forecasting, and strategic reporting. The ideal candidate will be a tenacious problem-solver with strong core financial acumen, advanced Excel proficiency, and mandatory hands-on experience navigating SAP back-end functions. You will not just process paperwork; you will investigate financial discrepancies, identify root causes, interpret data, and advise leadership.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves):
SAP Proficiency: Hands-on, practical experience using SAP back-end functionality would be ideal.
Advanced Excel Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically utilizing Power Query, Pivot Tables, and advanced data extraction/manipulation for financial analysis.
Core Financial Acumen: Strong background in FP&A, general accounting principles, CapEx/OpEx, budget management, forecasting, journal entries, POs, and reconciliations.
Professional Experience: 3 to 5+ years of strong financial/FP&A experience.
Analytical Mindset: A proactive, self-starter mentality with the ability to interpret what financial numbers indicate and clearly communicate recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial & Portfolio Management: Support operational (Run-the-Business/RTB) and functional budgets, capital plans (CapEx), and project-related financial activities across 1–2 portfolios.
SAP & Procurement Operations: Utilize SAP (HANA) to open and manage shopping carts (PDP/SRM), process journal entries, manage purchase orders (POs), and track vendor payments.
Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting: Proactively use SAP T-codes to investigate budget concerns, research delayed vendor invoices, identify root causes of financial discrepancies, and clear blocked/parked invoices to ensure timely vendor payments.
Forecasting & Reporting: Support financial forecasting, Latest Best Estimates (LBE), and variance analysis. Analyze spending patterns to understand why spending may be behind plan and ensure alignment with budget expectations.
Data Analysis: Extract, manipulate, and analyze complex financial datasets using Advanced Excel to provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to project managers and the leadership team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global cross-functional teams—including Project Accounting, Finance Shared Services, IT Finance, and business stakeholders—to support project close-outs, financial reconciliations, and capital expense approvals.
Process Improvement: Identify out-of-the-box opportunities to optimize financial operations, streamline workflows, and enhance the accuracy of financial estimates across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (proven practical experience will be prioritized over education).
Experience utilizing project and portfolio management tools such as Jira, Clarity, or Smartsheet.
Prior experience supporting IT or technology department budgets is a plus, though general FP&A experience from any industry is perfectly acceptable.
