Position Title: Safety Spec/Eng III-Industrial Hygienist Location: Port Arthur, TX (onsite) Duration: 12 Months
Project Overview:
Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects.

Job Description: Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect project employees. Recommends changes to company policies. Management reviews are used to measure progress on objectives. Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
Responsibilities • Supervises a project-level industrial hygiene program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects and compliance activities. • Assures industrial hygiene requirements are integrated in planning documents, design criteria, construction and operational plans, schedules, training programs, and subcontract documents. • Provides technical support within ES&H teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other project functions regarding ES&H program execution. • Works with other project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, commissioning and startup, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist in integrating and addressing industrial hygiene requirements in project work products and activities. • Research industrial hygiene issues to support ES&H program execution. • Performs risks assessments, provides technical guidance on mitigation measures and controls, and prepares technical reports. • Provides industrial hygiene support in compliance with Company standards and procedures, ES&H Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements. • Emphasizes and uses risk assessment and company's ES&H Management System to help achieve continuous improvement. Participates in ES&H emergency preparedness planning and confirms investigation and resolution of incidents related to industrial hygiene. • Builds working relationships with stakeholders and addresses related issues. Participates in meetings with customers, regulatory personnel, the public, and contractors/subcontractors regarding industrial hygiene requirements. • Tracks, evaluates, and reports ES&H performance and compliance related to industrial hygiene as required. • Serves as subcontract technical representative for specialized studies and support services involving subcontracted industrial hygiene services. • Coordinates with the project ES&H Management, regarding significant industrial hygiene issues. Supervises project-assigned industrial hygiene personnel and supports execution of the project ES&H program. • Provides technical support and assistance to construction supervision and subcontractors in planning and executing field activities. • Conducts surveys, assessments, inspections, sampling, and monitoring of project activities to monitor ES&H compliance with contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and company requirements. • Provides support for ES&H team members and tasks, inclusive of all three ES&H disciplines.
Qualifications and Skills Basic Qualifications • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene or equivalent recognized degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., occupational safety and health, public health, chemistry, biology, applied science) and 6+ years of relevant experience. • Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements. • Communicates well with diverse stakeholders and has technical writing and analytical skills. Demonstrates understanding of ES&H Management Systems. • Able to integrate environmental, safety, and health factors for program execution. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation. • Analytical skills related to Industrial Hygiene sampling and monitoring. • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under project site and weather conditions. • Ability to support various work shifts, as needed.
Additional Qualifications Certified Industrial Hygiene (or equivalent Certified Safety Professional) through a recognized accrediting organization licensing through appropriate regulatory authorities, where required sufficient number of courses in industrial hygiene and broad progressive work experience including senior supervisory experience in industrial hygiene.
Additional Information Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift or split shift. Must have relative heavy construction industry experience
This position has a work scope that includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated structures and/or platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e., harness, life vest, respiratory protection, etc.).
