Job Description

Job Title: Quality Control Senior Specialist
Duration: 10+ Months (PE)
Location: 27540, NC
 
Note: This position will be Hybrid (3 days a week onsite).
The candidate must be located near Holly Springs, NC.
This position will be responsible for leading the development, deployment, and maintenance of advanced digital tools and data solutions for the Quality Control (QC) laboratory. The role resides within the QC Systems group and reports to the Manager of Digital Laboratory Systems.
 
This individual will operate with a high degree of autonomy, directly partnering with process Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across QC (e.g., Chemistry, Microbiology, Bioassay, QC Support) to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and independently build scalable digital solutions. The role requires the ability to rapidly translate complex laboratory processes and data flows into robust tools that enhance data accessibility, reporting, and operational efficiency.
 
The successful candidate will act as a technical leader, responsible for end-to-end development across the digital tool lifecycle in QC, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, and support. This includes building enterprise-grade tools using Databricks, SQL, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, and SharePoint.
 
The position requires a combination of deep technical expertise complemented by some knowledge of QC laboratory operations and/or Quality System processes, enabling the individual to effectively interpret QC data structures (e.g., LIMS, lab notebooks, QMS) and develop fit-for-purpose solutions without extensive onboarding.
This position will work in a highly collaborative yet self-directed environment, driving digital innovation, communicating progress, identifying risks, and ensuring delivery of high-impact solutions that advance QC digital maturity.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience or Master degree and 6 years of experience or Bachelor degree and 8 years of experience or Associate degree and 10 years of experience or high school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience
 
Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets:
  • Expert-level SQL and Databricks experience, including working with enterprise data environments and building scalable solutions
  • Advanced digital tool development across Power Platform, Power BI, and SharePoint, with demonstrated ability to independently deliver solutions
  • Strong understanding of or prior experience working with QC data, workflows, and laboratory processes, enabling minimal onboarding and rapid value delivery
Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Independently partner with QC SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders to analyze workflows, identify gaps, and define technical solutions
  • Design and build end-to-end digital tools, including:
    • SharePoint-based trackers and repositories
    • Automated workflows using Power Automate
    • SQL/Databricks-based data pipelines
    • Advanced Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Develop and maintain integrated data solutions that connect QC data sources (LIMS, QMS, lab systems) to enterprise platforms
  • Lead the automation of manual processes, including data collection, reporting, and notifications
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity supporting business processes
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on digital tool design and best practices
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, user documentation, and training materials for QC digital tools
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in QC digital capabilities
  • Communicate progress, risks, and deliverables clearly to leadership and stakeholders
