Role: Project/Program Manager I Location: North Reading, MA Duration: 9 Months
Responsible for coordinating and driving execution of the RMTO Operations Safety Support program across the assigned site and shift structure. This role supports Operations Managers by helping manage incident follow up, corrective action closure, contractor onboarding oversight, behavioral safety audits, PSRM checklist execution, and enhanced floor presence. The Program Manager partners closely with Operations Managers and site EHS to ensure safety related operational actions are documented, prioritized, assigned, tracked, and completed. This role serves as the operational owner for RMTO safety execution follow through, while EHS remains the functional owner for safety policy, regulatory interpretation, and EHS defined program criteria. This role requires strong floor presence, disciplined task management, cross functional coordination, and the ability to coach, escalate, and remove barriers to action completion.
Key Responsibilities
Support incident confirmation, initial reporting, and documentation in AUSTIN or equivalent safety systems.
Coordinate incident investigation and follow up, including fact gathering, timeline development, root cause support, and corrective action definition.
Identify and assign RMTO owned corrective actions in partnership with Operations Managers and EHS.
Track RMTO owned action items through closure, including aging actions, blocked actions, and escalation needs.
Support pre shift safety briefs in partnership with EHS and Operations leadership.
Conduct behavioral safety audits in AUSTIN, including real time identification, coaching, and correction of at risk behaviors.
Oversee contractor onboarding execution, including daily supervision expectations, competency verification, and 90 day monitoring.
Complete or coordinate PSRM checklist execution in accordance with EHS defined pre production safety criteria.
Maintain enhanced floor presence, particularly on assigned shifts, to verify adherence to SOPs, housekeeping expectations, PIT patterns, and operational safety standards.
Partner cross functionally with Operations, EHS, Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, and Learning and Development to resolve safety related blockers.
Provide RMTO Ops leadership with regular summaries of open actions, risks, escalations, trends, and closure performance.
Qualifications
Requires a bachelors degree and 2 to 4 years of experience in manufacturing operations, safety and EHS support, industrial hygiene, program management, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a production floor leadership or operational safety coordination role may be considered.
Familiar with safety and EHS concepts, practices, and procedures, including incident investigation, behavioral based safety auditing, contractor safety management, and pre production PSRM safety review.
Comfortable working on the production floor and able to coach and correct at risk behavior in real time.
Working knowledge of PIT operations and SOP housekeeping standards.
Strong documentation discipline with clear written and verbal communication.
Preferred familiarity with AUSTIN or an equivalent incident or safety system.
