Position Title: Project Manager (Director Level), Medical Affairs
Work Location: Remote
Assignment Duration: 6 Months

Position Summary
The Project Manager will serve as a strategic and operational partner responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing Medical Affairs initiatives across a therapeutic area or major program across vast portfolios. This role ensures that complex, cross-functional projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with Medical Affairs strategy.

The Project Manager collaborates closely with Medical Affairs leaders, Medical Scientists, Clinical Development, Evidence Generation, Publications, Medical Operations, Compliance, Commercial, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive effective planning, governance, communication, and execution of key initiatives.

This role enables Medical Affairs leaders and scientific teams to focus on external engagement, evidence generation, and medical strategy by ensuring that critical initiatives are executed efficiently, compliantly, and with measurable impact across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end project management for Medical Affairs initiatives, programs, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Facilitate project governance and decision-making processes.
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with organizational objectives and Medical Affairs plans of action (POA).

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate activities across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and other functional teams.
  • Drive effective communication among stakeholders to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, workshops, and working sessions.
  • Resolve barriers and escalate issues appropriately to maintain project momentum.

Strategic Planning & Operations

  • Support development and execution of therapeutic area strategic plans and annual POAs.
  • Assist in prioritization of initiatives and resource planning.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, and tracking of expenditures.
  • Develop project dashboards, metrics, and status reports for leadership review.

Medical Affairs Program Support

  • Coordinate execution of:
    • Advisory boards
    • Congress planning and post-congress activities
    • Medical education initiatives
    • Evidence generation programs
    • Insight collection and reporting
    • Launch and lifecycle management activities
    • Training and development programs
  • Ensure operational excellence and consistency across Medical Affairs processes and activities.

Governance, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure project activities comply with company policies and healthcare regulations.
  • Support inspection readiness and documentation requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Medical Affairs processes, ways of working, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in project management and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (Life Sciences, Healthcare, Business, or related field) of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences project/program management. Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD, PhD) with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional projects.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MSc, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Experience within Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Medical Operations.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or similar project management certification.
  • Experience supporting launch, evidence generation, congress, or strategic planning activities.
