Procurement Coordinator Location: Durham, NC 27703 Duration: 3 Months (Possible Extension and Possible Temp to Perm)
Job Description: The Strategic Procurement Coordinator is a key member of the Procurement/Purchasing team with two primary focuses: strategic sourcing and buying/planning. Strong attention to detail, adaptability, communication, and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment are skills that will support a high level of success in this position.
Responsibilities: Strategic Analysis and Sourcing
Understand and interpret engineering ideas and design concepts to advise the feasibility of manufacturing, while influencing to meet business objectives.
Consistent monitoring of global market conditions that could impact our operations.
Research new and existing sources of supply for designs and obtain prototypes as needed.
Competitively bid the parts/design through Parata procurement's formal RFQ process and perform total cost of ownership analysis.
Guide cross-functional team to review the total cost analysis and determine primary and contingent sources of supply.
Negotiate to achieve the best total cost to benefit to Parata.
Negotiate and execute comprehensive goal-oriented contracts covering all aspects of commercial terms & conditions, ensuring legal and ethical requirements are met while still meeting Corporate or Division objectives.
Track cost reduction activity for the procurement team.
Supply Chain Management
Manage supplier relationships and be the primary point of contact.
Identify and minimize supply problems in advance of operational impact.
Utilize supplier report card data to reduce risk and ensure a strong and self-sufficient supply base.
Ensure on-time delivery of open orders and expedite as needed.
Buying / Planning
Determine material requirements from engineering and production schedules and maintain inventory at planned levels.
Proactively identify upcoming end of life (EOL) issues with supplier-sourced materials, and coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Inventory teams to mitigate risk and financial impact to Parata.
Coordinate with Finance & Inventory teams to manage and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Analyze and implement ECOs and MCOs per Parata policies.
Manage indirect (non-production) spend in accordance with the above listed criteria.
Experience and educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or other related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a strategic sourcing/procurement role within a production environment
Experience leading cross-functional teams in the organization on procurement projects
Analytical skills to include cost/price modeling, make vs. buy analysis, value analysis, TCO, and ROI/cost benefit analysis, demonstrated ability to develop/implement commodity/services sourcing strategies which yield measurable reductions in spend
Experience in tracking global raw material price movements and altering/creating sourcing strategy based on the changes
Experience in the procurement and processing of plastics and metals preferred
Excellent communication skills; ability to work across a variety of departments
Organized and motivated team player
Problem solving skills
Strong computer skills including use of MS Office programs
Experience using supply chain management software and tools, Great Plains preferred
