Position Title: Phlebotomist II
Work Location: Bartlesville, OK – 3500 SE Frank Phillips Blvd.
Assignment Duration: 3 Months – Contract to Possible Extension
Work Schedule: 3rd Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Rotating Weekends
Work Arrangement: Onsite
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to support laboratory and patient service operations in a hospital environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for specimen collection, processing, patient interaction, and maintaining compliance with laboratory and safety procedures.
This position has been opened to support increased patient volume and provide additional coverage for the laboratory team. The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate specimen collection and processing while delivering excellent patient care.
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using straight and butterfly needles.
Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
Receive and accession samples into the laboratory information system.
Review physician orders and laboratory requisitions for accuracy.
Update and maintain patient information and documentation.
Communicate with clinics and healthcare providers regarding specimen and order-related inquiries.
Ensure proper specimen storage and transport while maintaining specimen integrity.
Perform decontamination procedures and record maintenance data as required.
Answer laboratory-related inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
Adhere to OSHA, DEP, and company safety regulations.
Participate in required annual departmental training programs.
Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience required.
Previous experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
Ability to perform approximately 50 blood draws per day.
Strong specimen processing and laboratory documentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Phlebotomy certification preferred/required where applicable by state regulations.
Prior hospital-based phlebotomy experience.
Experience working independently and within a team environment.
Hospital-based work environment.
Standing and walking for 4–6 hours per shift.
Fast-paced patient care setting.
Ability to work independently during portions of the shift and collaboratively with the laboratory team.
