Job Description

Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: TX (100% Remote)
Duration: 6 Months
 
Job Profile Summary:
Ability to perform all duties of a Payroll Specialist I as business needs and workload dictates and performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing inter-company transfers and terminations including preparing manual checks. Prepares data and documents in support of more complex processing and processes conducted by more senior members of the team. Conducts batch importing, journal and wire processing. Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing. Provides policy information and employee specific data to employees in a customer service capacity. Conducts employee and manager training and education in formal and casual settings. Interacts with internal department representatives to resolve issues and ensure processes and data exchanges are clear. Participates in process improvement efforts within the department and division.

  • Prepares data and documents in support of more complex processing and processes conducted by more senior members of the team.
  •  Conducts batch importing, journal and wire processing.
  • Although duties normally follow established procedures, responsibilities may include routine, minor corrections to make documents acceptable for processing.
  • Provides policy information and employee specific data to employees in a customer service capacity.
  • Conducts employee and manager training and education in formal and casual settings.
  •  Interacts with internal department representatives to resolve issues and ensure processes and data exchanges are clear.
  • Participates in process improvement efforts within the department and division.
  • Same knowledge and experience as a Payroll Specialist  
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
 
JOB COMPLEXITY:
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Has internal and some external contacts.
 
SUPERVISION:
  • Works under general supervision. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
 
EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires 2 years of related experience with additional bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, finance or related training.
 
EDUCATION:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Payroll experience and Intermediate Excel skills are required (pivot tables, v lookup).
  • This resource will be working primarily with Workday and Excel, so Workday experience is highly desired.
