Job Title: Part-Time Copy Editor Work Schedule: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. M-F Duration: 12 Months Location: Houston, TX- 77019
The team edits for clarity and accuracy on pricing reports, news stories and market commentary having to do with the petrochemical industry. Someone who concentrates on accuracy, is not afraid to ask questions, has a keen eye for content improvements and can work well under deadline pressure.

Basic math skills – understand percentages and unit conversions
Key responsibilities:
Edit copy with a particular focus on accuracy and the logic of the reporting, ensuring the copy is easy to understand and corrections are avoided.
Edit copy according to the requirements of the business.
Develop the ability to determine whether the text of reports supports the price assessments.
Ensure style is enforced and legal problems are identified.
Identify opportunities within the copy for alternative ways of presenting the story – infographics, tables or graphs – and create/edit such elements using data visualization software.
Complete work quickly and to deadlines.
Keep accurate and comprehensive records of editorial metrics.
Experience Required:
Minimum 3 years experience
Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in English, communications, journalism, business, science or related fields.
Professional experience in a communications or publishing environment.
Expert user of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Meeting deadlines, accuracy, ability to communicate well and ask questions with work colleagues.
Preferred:
Experience using content management systems (CMS) is a plus.
Experience using Tableau and Infogram is a plus.
Best candidate has a news copy editing background.
Knowledge of energy (oil & gas), chemicals or aerospace industries is a plus.
Has confidence when dealing with figures, such as financial results or commodities pricing.
Communications or journalism degree preferred Knowledge in petrochemical industry a plus but not a must.

Phone and or face to face, 30 or 1 hour.
Interviews will be conducted over Microsoft Teams video.
