Job Specifications: Title: Network Engineer IV Duration: 12 Months Assignment Location: Arlington, VA 22201 (Onsite)
Business Purpose Support AWS compliance commitments across North America. The role also involves operational support for critical capacity restoration and ensuring network scalability and high availability.
Role Overview This position focuses on managing and supporting large-scale optical networks within AWS’s global infrastructure. The engineer will work on high-capacity DWDM systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance of the network.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot DWDM/optical network systems
Support network capacity restoration and availability
Diagnose and resolve complex network issues
Participate in operational support, including on-call activities
Collaborate across engineering teams (network, hardware, software)
Contribute to automation and operational efficiency initiatives
Top Required Skills (Must-Have)
DWDM / Optical Network Experience – Hands-on experience with high-capacity optical systems
Network Troubleshooting – Strong problem-solving skills in optical networks
Project/Time Management – Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Nice-to-Have Skills
Automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl)
Network design and architecture knowledge
Cross-platform integration experience
Experience Required
5–8 years of relevant experience
Background in telecom, ISPs, data centers, or large-scale enterprise networks
Experience with DWDM, Optical Transport Networks (OTN), and fiber infrastructure
Experience in 24/7 production/on-call environments
