Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Responsibilities align with the job titles Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Specific work environment/department will be indicated in the requirement.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving as needed.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as required.
Assist with specimen processing when necessary.
Maintain a safe work environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or as required by CLIA/State regulatory standards.
0–2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required.
State Medical Technologist license may be required (if applicable in requirement).
ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required (as indicated in requirement).
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Proficient computer skills; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening test.
Flexibility to work overtime or alternative shifts based on business needs.
