Job Title: Medical Assistant/Medical Technician Location: Kalamazoo, MI Duration: 1 year (possible extension) Part Time: (20–30 hours/week minimum)
Schedule & Flexibility • Clinic hours: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM • Flexible scheduling • Monday availability highly preferred • Monday/Wednesday ideal, but flexibility exists for strong candidates
Overview: The Colleague Wellness Medical Assistant/Medical Technician will provide clinical occupational health and wellness services dictated by established client guidelines and assist with clerical or other services as needed based on clinic needs
Responsibilities: • Conducts medical surveillance including spirometry, audiometric testing, vision testing, throat cultures, EKGs, and respirator fit testing. • Performs routine or specialized procedures such as venipuncture and drug screens • Assesses injuries, performs first aid, cleanses and dresses wounds • Flushes eyes and ears • Maintains confidentiality with all patient care, familiar with HIPAA regulations • Maintains medical equipment including daily calibrations • Schedules and monitors patient appointments • Performs record management for clinic records • Provides administrative support to the clinic • Patient rooming • Drawing blood • Administering immunizations • Surveillance exams (vision, hearing, fit testing) • Spirometry and audiometry (training provided) • General MA support duties
Organizational Relationships • Reports to Colleague Wellness (CW) site leader • Works closely with CW • Works directly with site colleagues • Collaborates with various departments as needed
Clinic & Scope • Permanent client onsite clinic functioning like an urgent care + occupational health clinic • Supports client colleagues for: o Personal medical care and emergencies o Occupational health services (hearing, vision, respirator fit testing) • Not a clinical trial or research role
Education and Experience • Suggest a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (2+ years experience preferred, but flexible) • Medical Assistant (MA), certification required • Previous Occupationsl Health experience • CPR/First Aid certification required • Phlebotomy certified • Vaccine administration • Adept knowledge of medical terminology • Knowledge of how to care of medical emergencies of Chemical or biological hazard exposure • Occupational medicine experience is a plus • Training provided for clinic-specific procedures
Technical Skills Requirements • Health Insurance Portability and Accoutability Act (HIPAA) required • Worker’s Compension, OSHA, ADA • Treatment of injuries • Medical screenings • Medical documentation
Physical Position Requirements • Clinic Setting • 20+/- hours per week • Monday-Friday • Reliable
