Job Title: Mechanical Engineer II
Duration: 11+ Months (M/F 9-5- swing shift optional with full training)

  • The Role: As a Failure Analysis Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical lab work which supports prototype failure analysis and materials development investigations.
  • You will develop and execute SOPs focused on producing world-class analysis outcomes in the areas of sample preparation and physical/chemical characterization.
  • You will provide technical support for materials and failure analysis investigations with the goal of driving design and manufacturing improvements.
 
Key Projects:
  • SmartCarts
  • Entry/Exit Gates
 
Typical Tasks:
  • Optical inspection and measurements
  • Electrical fault isolation
  • Mechanical cross sectioning and associated sample preparation
  • 2D and computed tomography (CT) X-ray inspection methods
  • Materials testing execution (mechanical and thermal-mechanical testing)
  • Lab equipment maintenance
 
Qualifications
  • 3 years’ related work experience with Associate of Science degree in laboratory technology, electrical engineering technology or related field
  • Experience with fault isolation of electronics
  • Experience in performing bulk materials or electronics cross sections
  • Excellent written/communication skills
  • Experience with lab safety best-practices
  • Experience in writing SOP documents and lab reports
  • Willingness to independently troubleshoot and maintain scientific equipment, engaging equipment manufacturers when necessary for support
