Job Title: Mainframe zOS Support Engineer Location: Remote – USA Duration: ~61 Months (5 years 1 Month)
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Mainframe zOS Support Engineer to provide end-to-end production support for enterprise mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in zOS operations, batch job monitoring, incident management, and troubleshooting production issues within large-scale mainframe systems. This role requires hands-on expertise in JCL, batch scheduling tools, CICS, DB2, MQ, VSAM, and system monitoring. The candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure system stability, performance, and high availability.
Key Responsibilities Mainframe Production Support
Monitor zOS system health, performance, and batch processing activities
Handle production incidents, service requests, and critical severity issues
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes
Provide ongoing support for enterprise mainframe environments
Batch Operations & Scheduling
Support JCL execution, batch job monitoring, and ABEND troubleshooting
Work with scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, OPC/TWS
Ensure successful batch processing and timely issue resolution
System & Application Support
Support and maintain CICS, DB2, MQ, VSAM, datasets, and related subsystems
Coordinate with application teams for deployments, fixes, and environment support
Troubleshoot data transfer and FTP/SFTP-related issues
Incident, Change & Problem Management
Follow ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management
Participate in CAB meetings and production release activities
Maintain compliance with operational and audit standards
Environment & Performance Management
Conduct daily and weekly health checks for zOS, CICS, DB2, and storage systems
Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize job execution
Monitor system availability and operational stability
