Job Description

Location: Aibonito, PR

JOB PURPOSE
  • Sets up and operates manufacturing machines such as: Printing Machine, AMPLAS, etc. Performs all duties with strict observance to cGMP's, cSOP's, cGDP's and other internal and external regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads blueprint or spec's for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Selects, positions, and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collet, or toolpost).
  • Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and turns handwheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feed.
  • Turns valve handle to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and workpiece.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.
  • Operates machines and feeds them with the appropriate raw material, such as: foil changes, minor cleaning adjustments.
  • Assists Manufacturing Mechanics or Maintenance Technicians at preventive maintenance routine.
  • Reads and interprets alarms, gages, PLC's, basic concepts of electricity.Observes and records scrap, downtime, efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to all assigned areas.
  • Able to work under minimum supervision.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Team worked oriented.
  • Occasionally required to work extra hours, Holidays (eg. shutdowns, special projects).
  • Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and working areas.
  • Able to rotate all manufacturing working areas periodically (every six months), or as established by Department schedule; with the appropriate training as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year certificate from college, vocational or technical school with a concentration in General Mechanics.
  • One year minimum of previous experience in related area.
  • Knowledge in pneumatic and general mechanics.
  • Availability to work weekend shifts, 12-hour shifts, and non-standard shifts. 
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of supervisors or employees of organization. Basic knowledge in English and Spanish languages.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs and schematics.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: cGMP's Training, certificates, licenses, exams and registrations that the immediate supervisor refers.
COMPANY REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: Observes and promotes company security, industrial hygiene, cGMP's, procedures and other security measures already established by the company; should inform any violation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with the appropriate safety equipment that Company provide). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT and/or EQUIPMENT: The incumbent must use the proper equipment in any area to comply with Company policies, and any internal or external regulation; or policy (eg. safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety gloves, uniform, etc.).While performing the duties of this job the incumbent must use: computer; small precision tools, telephone, office supply, hand tools, electrical tools, etc.
