Description: Preferred start 7/8/24 The incumbent will provide technical support in the formulations development laboratory through hands-on experimentation.
Key Responsibilities: Provides technical support to the formulation development scientists through the preparation of formulation samples and testing of formulation samples for physical properties. • Prepares formulation samples with minimum supervision using standard processing equipment such as bead mills, high shear mixers, air jet mills, blenders etc. • Independently evaluates formulation samples for physical properties and is proficient in the use of laboratory instruments such as laser diffraction particle size analyzers, rheometers, density meters, pH meters etc. • Under minimal guidance generates reproducible data, interprets results. • Enforce quality measures through finished product testing to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards. Responsible for daily records review and maintenance, follow up and fulfill customer documentation request. • Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments in good working order. • Reports and discusses for any issues related to the Lab equipment. • Ensures samples are labeled in compliance with EH&S requirements. • Maintains laboratory notebook and accurately documents all experiments and results. • Document results of experiments as well in report. • Communicates project status in a timely fashion and immediately raises any issues to the project owner. • Maintains a high housekeeping standard in the laboratory. • Understands and follows appropriate EH&S standards, policies and procedures applicable to their job. • Leads by example in the area of safety behaviors by promoting safe work habits.
Training for use of equipment and data systems will be provided for the incumbent.
Required Qualifications • Performs duties with minimal supervision, actively demonstrates accountability by providing recommendations and/or thorough analysis of options for issues/solutions. • Must exhibit skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple items simultaneously. • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, as well as the ability to learn new systems quickly • Strong problem solving and time management skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Good interpersonal skills are required • No prior formulation experience required, but technical experience in academia or industry is a plus.
Education • Degree in sciences such as chemistry is mandatory. • B.Sc. degree is desired. Masters okay (New Grad) • PhD Overqualified
