Job Title: Laboratory Assistant Job Location: Johnston, IA, USA, 50131 Job Duration: 6 Months Weekend work on rotation
Description: Performing day to day greenhouse/growth chamber activities including planting, pollinating, tissue sampling, pest/disease scouting, harvesting, threshing, discarding, chamber sanitation, general plant care, data collection, data entry, facility cleanliness and maintaining safety standards. Must want to work within a greenhouse facility- there is no lab work.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Collecting tissue samples off of soybean plants for DNA analysis • Perform planting, transplanting, plant crossing, harvest, and discard of Soybean and/or Wheat plants. • Assisting in operating the soybean threshing machine • Plant maintenance including trimming, training, and node cleaning • Cross pollinating, plant discard • Need to be comfortable working with soybean, wheat, pollen and dust • Cleaning of the facility and other basic duties as assigned
