Job Description

Title: Laboratory Technician
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Indianapolis, IN
46077

Shift: 7:00am-4:00pm

Description:
Assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with Laboratory standards in order to help ensure the validity and integrity of experimental results.

Responsibilities:
Media Preparation
Wash/rinse glassware and equipment, sterilize equipment using Autoclave, fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions, prepare cleaning solutions, deliver supplies to work areas, operate basic lab equipment

CDM Tests
Perform routine lab work, test setup: put plant into trays and tag, make tags for test, thinning plants, and marking plants for mobility tests, and breakdowns (place plants onto another cart)

Greenhouses
Uses of insecticides/fungicides, inoculate and harvest pathogens, wash and move carts, cut flats into single pots, bag and weigh plant material for disposal

Cleaning
Clean lab and greenhouse benches and floors, empty hazardous and non-hazardous waste containers and replace, scrub down Growth and Dew Rooms, and stock of labs and greenhouses with supplies.

Qualifications:
Biology or Plant Pathology background preferred (AS/BS degree preferred but not required; 1-2 years experience required in lieu of degree)

Addiional requirements:
Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? Yes, wearing a PAPR - The OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation (Questionnaire, Vitals, PFT)
Any exposure to common allergens? Chemicals, Latex
