Job Title: IT Technical Writer
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Oakland, CA
Pay Range: $40 - $42/hr on W2

 
Note: Local Candidate only. Potential onsite meeting, once a month at the OGO. hybrid preferred and 100% remote considered. Client laptop will be provided and if needed, the client will provide any other requested equipment such as an external monitor, mouse, keyboard, docking station, HDMI connectors, wires etc

  • Experience with a similar project, ability to be self-directed, track record of success.
  • High expertise with excel, and demonstrated analytics skills (taking in raw data and importing and processing - connecting the dots on data flowing from one process to another)
 
Description:
Technical Writer develops and maintains manuals, standards, procedures, and bulletins that enable client to maintain compliance with all external and internal requirements, and ensure public and employee safety. Collaborates with, and gathers information from, internal and external clients to develop guidance documents, in an orderly, concise manner, which are typographically, grammatically, and technically correct. This project involves creating documentation and job aids for client's income-qualified programs (ESA, CARE, and FERA). Specifically, the majority of the project entails creating documentation for data tables and reporting functions, including financial and project information.
  • Take complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience. Produces Manuals and Guides, including Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process Maps
  • High Excel Expertise (Formulas, V-lookups) and spreadsheet management skills
  • Accounting Skills, Utility Billing Experience
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired:
  • High standards for writing, detail, editing, and information design that lead to accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content
  • User-focused approach to documentation planning, design, and content strategy
 
Qualifications:
  • Education Minimum: BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Technical Writing, content management, process improvement, in the development of a wide range of IT documentation deliverables
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiar with client policies and procedures with regard to information technology, and Company Guidance Document Management (GDM) standards
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint
  • Proficient in documentation technologies and processes
  • Good verbal communication skills to collaborate with peers, content owners and collect necessary information for documents
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good multi-tasking, adaptability and organizational skills
