Job Description

Location: Juncos, PR

SUMMARY
  • Under general supervision, the Instrument Technician is responsible for performing/providing calibration, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and documentation of instruments, process control systems, and equipment used in manufacturing, utility plants, and analytical labs. Resource will be support the new product introduction, execution of calibration PM, repair activities and troubleshooting equipment and system. All work to be completed to assure minimal impact to production while complying with cGMP and company regulations.
FUNCTIONS
  • Perform basic calibrations of instruments on process and utility equipment.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for the equipment/ systems the team is responsible for.
  • Ensure that calibration paperwork, instrument files and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Participate in a detailed training program in order to develop one's knowledge in the instrumentation field and other areas of the plant.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and updating of related SOPs for work related areas.
  • Configure and repair microprocessor based instruments and controllers.
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair of process control and laboratory instruments.
  • All work must be completed in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and company policies.
  • Perform regular certification of equipment to verify conformance to industry standards and company procedures.
  • Maintain an up to date cGMP training book.
  • Plan and schedule own work activities with operations staff to minimize impact to production activities.
  • Other functions that may be assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate's degree and 2 years of Maintenance experience OR High school diploma/GED and 4 years of Maintenance experience.
  • Availability to work non-standard shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALITIFACIONS
  • A craftsperson knowledgeable of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic instrumentation.
  • Received training or hands on experience in such specialized subjects as analog and/or digital electronics, microprocessors and/or computers, and the operation and maintenance of particular lines of field instrumentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through verbal and written form.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams.
  • Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
