Instrument Test Technician Location: Marana, AZ Shift: 2nd Shift Schedule: Mon - Fri, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Overtime Required

The Instrument Test Technician contributes to producing reliable products and supplies with effective operations in an empowered organization. As part of a dynamic team, the Instrument Test Technician is responsible for collaborating with their team to perform a wide variety of complex tasks related to the set up, and functional and reliability testing of instrument manufacturing operations to meet established acceptance criteria.
In addition, an Instrument Test Technician must be able to independently and effectively troubleshoot all routine test failures to the subassembly level, and can resolve some unusual/complex test failures with the assistance of more experienced technicians or other technical support.
The Instrument Test Technician recognizes and elevates safety, equipment, and product problems, contributing to the achievement of production goals. Utilizes validated software and systems to maintain processes, batch records, and inventory control. Ensures all production related documentation is in compliance with quality system regulations. May be responsible for assembling products of all levels of complexity, low complexity training of new employees and sharing best practices. They must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to identify opportunities that would drive the business forward.
Responsibilities: Safety and Quality (10%) Maintain Right to Operate and ensure that all processes are performed in a safe and healthy manner; Address and escalate any potentially unsafe hazards; leading and initiating safety improvements, timely reporting and investigation of safety hazards, incidents and near misses using safety reporting tools. Understand the expectations of audit readiness (OSHA, FDA, QSR, GMP, ISO, etc.); may be required to answer questions about processes on the spot. Perform tasks/transactions in the quality system to ensure we achieve our quality objectives. Maintain accurate and complete system transactions ensuring material traceability, and inventory accuracy (e.g. receipt, quarantine, storage, issuance of materials, and other inventory transactions). Maintain area specific inventory accuracy through cycle counts and adherence to inventory control processes, identifies discrepancies and owns escalations and implements corrective measures. Assist and collaborate with support functions on NCR investigations, creation and execution of reworks, implements corrective actions and preventive measures. Identify, recommend, initiate and provide feedback to process and procedure documentation changes Adhering to 95% or above internal training compliance.
Production (80%) Executes the process of assembly, and testing electro-mechanical products of varying complexity and in accordance with production manufacturing records, operating procedure requirements to produce finished intermediates and final kits while meeting production targets. Capable of basic transactions within highly complex systems and controls in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. receive, process, build product/materials, facilitate material availability, SAP transactions/confirmations). Assists with specific equipment repairs. Performs basic preventative and unplanned maintenance ensuring completeness of appropriate documentation, and escalates to appropriate support team(s) accordingly. Troubleshoots and repairs all routine test failures to the sub-assembly level, and component level independently - can troubleshoot some complex technical problems with consultations from line support or more experienced technicians. Performs basic preventative and unplanned maintenance according to specifications, and task-specific training by technical area support, ensuring completeness of appropriate documentation, and escalates to appropriate support team(s) accordingly. Performs in-process inspections. Proactively recognizes, and identifies defects and non-conforming components. Understands and adheres to assembly drawings, test work instructions and procedures, or other instructions.
Continuous Improvement (5%) May be responsible for 6S activities, gathering/meeting cycle times and developing/following standard work; identifies and implements process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean tools. May facilitate and participate in tier meetings. Participates in the collection of data for daily metrics purposes.
Teamwork and Collaboration (5%) Proactively collaborates with peers in other shifts/functions to ensure daily targets are achieved. Assist in the successful onboarding of new employees and contractors. Can provide low complexity on the job training. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new production processes. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma/GED, required Associates Degree, preferred. 2 years relevant technical work experience, preferably in a GMP environment. Experience with automated manufacturing equipment in a regulated environment, required. Experience with validated software systems used to maintain Quality, Inventory, and Processes, required. Familiarity with sensors, motors, cylinders, etc., and with use of hand tools and test equipment, required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement Experience with Google products (gMail, gSheets, gDoc, etc) High degree of initiative with the ability to work autonomously. Experience with SAP, preferred Ability to read, write and comprehend English Ability to work with cross-functional teams Ability to be agile and accurate in a high-volume environment Strong organizational skills, planning skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills to manage multiple tasks and competing timelines Strong communication skills - written, verbal - can explain theory of operation for instruments under test in an area of expertise. Ability to solve moderate and semi-complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some standardization exists. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. Strong proficiency in the use of calibrated manufacturing and testing tools/equipment such as, but not limited to: torque drivers, pressure gauges, feeler gauges, multimeters, analytical scales, and HiPot testers. Ability to have prompt, regular and reliable worksite attendance.

Required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, crouch for a combined 4 or more hours per day. Required to push, pull, and lift 30 pounds. Repetitive, consistent movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have good near visual acuity to perform activities throughout the processes in the assigned area. Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work with pallet jacks (electrical or other); to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls and machinery; and to wear and work in personnel protective equipment. Depending on the work area, may be required to wear personal protective equipment, for example: lab coat, shoe covers, ear protection, safety glasses, and/or face shield. This is an essential position supporting the organizational goals requiring attendance on weekends, holidays and during emergency or exceptional conditions.
