Schedule: 3rd shift. Mon – Fri 10pm – 6:30am.

Need a Florida state histology license.  
Microtomy experience required
Flu  vaccination required.


Summary:
The histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state of the art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high quality diagnostic material within established turn-around-times.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Embedding, Cutting of routine cases, cutting of recut, special stain and IHC requests.
  • Cutting - Between 35-40 an hour.
  • Embedding - 45 blocks an hour per
  • Performs accurate gross description on tissue samples.
  • Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate records.
  • Operates all instruments/ equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognizes and identifies instrument/ equipment problems.
  • Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.Recognizes testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies appropriate personnel; assists in problem resolution.
  • Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.
  • Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
  • Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines.
Required:
  • Associate degree OR B.S  in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.
  • Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours)State Licensure, where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing).
  • Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting and routine special staining techniques.
  • 2-7 years of experience
