Summary
We are seeking a skilled candidate with a background in Electronics R&D, specifically within the consumer electronics sector. The ideal candidate will have experience as an electro-mechanical technician in the R&D field, not only proficient in handling prototypes and executing instructions but also capable of independently building and creating prototypes and developing solutions.

The Hardware Technician role requires an electro-mechanically minded individual with a passion for constructing products and prototypes from electrical subsystems such as displays, cameras, audio, RF, and sensors. The electrical engineering team within our client's VR division is looking for a Hardware Technician to join as a contractor. In this role, you will support the team in developing the latest generation of VR devices and advancing hardware innovations for the client.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-density PCB and FPC rework, repair, and occasional troubleshooting using advanced bench tools, with component sizes as small as 0201.
  • Assist the engineering team with electro-mechanical assembly and disassembly tasks.
  • Collaborate with customers and colleagues to identify and resolve hardware issues.
  • Provide clear problem-solving steps to effectively address and resolve issues.
  • Repair computer equipment and other devices, followed by testing to ensure proper functionality post repair.
  • Interpret and work with electrical and mechanical drawings, such as schematics and layouts.
  • Contribute to the design and assembly of custom test fixtures.
  • Skilled in building and familiar with standard shop and lab tools.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in layout and 3D CAD software.
  • Expertise in fine-pitch soldering.
  • Experience in building custom fixtures.
  • Strong communication skills with teams and individuals.
  • Solid understanding of electronics and prototyping.
Education/Experience:
  • Associate degree in Engineering/Electronics.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience as an electrical/hardware technician.
  • Proficient in working with electronics and PCBs for prototyping and rework.
  • Skilled in fine-pitched soldering.
  • Capable of following instructions and documentation for rework and prototyping tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic components.
