Job Description

Title: Financial Analyst II
Location: Remote (Local to NC)
Duration : 6 months (Possibility to convert depending on performance)
Shift : 8-5, M - F 


Summary:
The main functions of a financial analyst are to gather and analyze financial information; will typically conduct quantitative analyses of information affecting investment programs of public or private institutions. A typical financial analyst is responsible for analyzing and communicating financial information for clients.

Job Responsibilities:
Assemble spreadsheets and draw charts and graphs used to illustrate technical reports. Analyze financial information to produce forecast of business, industry and economic conditions for use in making investment decisions. Interpret data affecting investment programs, such as price, yield, stability and future trends in investment risks.
Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking. Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time. Basic ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses. Basic knowledge of economic and accounting principles, the financial markets, and reporting of financial data. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.

Job duties will include:
This individual will support the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) revenue accounting team to complete special projects in collaboration with cross-functional business partners, and play an integral role in system and process improvements. Conduct analysis of activities at the macro and micro levels for use by managers and senior leadership, including standard or ad hoc reporting.

Duties
  • Collect, compile, prepare, and analyze data from multiple systems, to process revenue entries, journal entries, and other financial transactions.
  • Adapt to constantly changing requirements and business needs; quickly implementing solutions when necessary.
  • Supports RCM process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure continual review and improvement of processes to strengthen controls, improve productivity and reduce cost.
  • Assist the revenue team in ensuring contracts and agreements are processed in accordance with US GAAP and company policies, including the review of revenue recognition for fixed fee projects using percent of completion methods.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key revenue data, as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance/accounting or MBA with accounting focus a plus
  • Public accounting experience or revenue/technical accounting experience in a public company or a combination of both desired
  • 3+ years of experience in contract management and project accounting, preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (ASC 606, US GAAP)
  • Strong understanding of Order to Cash processes
  • Experience or background in accounting, finance, contract and project accounting strongly preferred.
  • Advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong Excel Knowledge, data manipulation, pivot tables, etc.
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills; self-starter, motivated, independent thinker
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, strong analysis, problem-solving, and decisive judgement
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Is motivated to learn, and being proactive and willing to take on additional responsibilities
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft preferred

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline required. An advanced degree in a financial discipline is preferred. 2-4 years financial and/or accounting experience required.
