Job Title: Field Operator
Duration: 12 Months

Description:
Reporting to the Aitken Creek Area Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing daily operations support to meet daily maintenance demands and deliver the storage of gas in the underground facility, safely and reliably, as an integral part of Western Canada’s natural gas transmission network.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Operate the existing equipment at the Aitken Creek Gas Storage Facility safely to ensure all required daily demands are met.
  • Support the area supervisor and operations coordinator to operate both the field and plant equipment to ensure all nominations are delivered, and execute all assigned daily operations tasks.
  • Utilize field and plant operations experience and technical knowledge to solve work related problems and/or collaborate and refer to others. Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for staff in order to meet health, safety and emergency requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to safe work procedures and practices including Site Safe Work
  • Planning; provide safety information and supplies, including the use personal protective
  • equipment.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, builders, municipal agencies, emergency response and environmental management personnel.
  • Must be accessible to act as a resource in emergency and operational upset situations.
  • Support the daily operations activities in the storage facility, including participating in daily safe work permitting, maintenance crew oversight and troubleshooting of daily storage operations, which includes mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and process troubleshooting along with supporting the operations coordinator and project activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required:
  • Related university degree and four?plus years’ experience OR six?plus years of previous field operations experience, OR
  • Equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
Preferred:
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 8 years’ field/plant operating experience
Scope/Dimensions
  • Approved shift is 8 days off 6 days off 10 hours per day
  • Any time worked over 10 hours is overtime
  • Camp Position
  • Trip to town while on shift when approved by Supervisor
  • Ensure that we maintain compliant on all regulatory requirements
  • Ensure we follow all “Best Practices”
  • Complete day to day tasks as directed by Coordinator and/or Supervisor
  • Log facility and either repair or report any deficiency’s and log in our CMMS system
  • Complete work orders as assigned in CMMS, including putting gin proper notes and
  • documentation for proper close out of work order
  • Work permitting
  • Lock Out Tag Out
  • Ensure all regulatory and environmental requirements are being completed
  • Initiate, Execute and Complete MOC as required
  • Participate and engage in “5 Why’s” and “Why Tree” as required
  • Participate in What If’s, HAZID’s and HAZOPs as required
Contacts (Working Relationships)
  • Working with the operations and maintenance team daily to ensure the facility delivers
  • nominated volumes.
  • Working with the safety specialists to ensure safe, reliable and compliant maintenance operations.
  • Working directly with the Area Supervisor and Shift Coordinators.
Working Conditions
Aitken Creek Gas Storage facility is approximately 125 km northeast of the community of Fort St John. The facility operates and maintains a fleet of compression with gas processing equipment. 
The position is camp based so the successful candidate will be required to stay in camp for an 8 day on and 6 day off shift.
