Position Summary
The Expert Business Impact Analysis (BIA) Consultant will be responsible for conducting Business Impact Analysis assessments and recovery requirements analysis across critical business and technology functions. This position partners with business leaders, application teams, architects, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and continuity stakeholders to evaluate operational impacts, identify critical dependencies, establish recovery requirements, and support enterprise resilience initiatives.
This role is heavily project-focused and is responsible for leading complex assessments, facilitating stakeholder engagements, driving strategic resiliency initiatives, and delivering actionable recommendations that strengthen operational resilience, disaster preparedness, cyber recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
Key Responsibilities Business Impact Analysis & Resiliency Assessments
Lead enterprise-wide Business Impact Analysis (BIA) projects and assessments.
Facilitate workshops with business leaders, application owners, architects, and technology teams to identify critical business functions and supporting technology dependencies.
Evaluate financial, operational, customer, regulatory, safety, and reputational impacts associated with service disruptions.
Determine and document Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD), and recovery priorities.
Analyze end-to-end business processes, application dependencies, infrastructure dependencies, and third-party service relationships.
Project Delivery & Strategic Initiatives
Lead large-scale resilience, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, and operational readiness initiatives.
Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, executive communications, and status reporting.
Manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and remediation activities.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and achievement of program objectives.
Support enterprise transformation efforts that impact recoverability, continuity, and resilience capabilities.
Recovery Strategy & Operational Resilience
Translate BIA findings into actionable recovery and resiliency recommendations.
Partner with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Cyber Recovery, and Infrastructure teams to align recovery strategies with business requirements.
Support application recoverability assessments and recovery prioritization activities.
Evaluate critical business services and supporting technology capabilities to identify resiliency improvement opportunities.
Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and governance enhancements.
Governance, Compliance & Reporting
Maintain BIA methodologies, standards, procedures, templates, and governance processes.
Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, compliance initiatives, and resilience assessments.
Develop executive dashboards, metrics, reports, and presentations for senior leadership.
Ensure assessment results and recovery requirements remain current and aligned with business objectives.
Identify operational risks and resilience improvement opportunities across the enterprise.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Services
Serve as the enterprise BIA subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
Build relationships with business leaders, technology organizations, risk management, cybersecurity, emergency preparedness, and continuity teams.
Present findings, recommendations, roadmap activities, and risk assessments to leadership and governance committees.
Coach and educate stakeholders on resilience planning methodologies, standards, and best practices.
