Job Title: Engineering Technician 2
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: San Diego, CA
Job Description:
  • As a member of the R&D Advanced Research & Technology Test Development Team you will support the evaluation of new technologies through testing, modeling, analysis, prototyping, and experimentation. You will collaborate and communicate with other technicians, engineers and scientists, in the facilitation of testing activities.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assemble and modify prototypes and test samples.
• Organize testing materials and execute test methods.
• Document findings and process data as necessary.
• Participate in Test Method Validation (TMV) activities (e.g. Gauge R&R)
• Aid in the introduction of equipment into the asset management system.
• Help in the identification and procurement of equipment and materials to facilitate testing.
• Perform analytical equipment maintenance.
• Support maintenance of calibration activities and tracking.
• Clearly communicate and track testing activities to maintain visibility into progress and outcomes.
• Develop, document, and streamline testing procedures.
• Support introduction of testing procedures into the quality control system.
• As needed, utilize the equipment in the machine shop to help build test fixtures and equipment.
• Work within scheduled timelines.
• This position assumes and performs others duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of technical/mechanical related experience.
• Detail oriented.
• Familiarity with data analysis methods and basic analysis software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Eagerness to share or tryout new ideas, perspectives, or solutions.
• Amenable to adapting to changing goals / priorities / activities as needed by the organization.
• Embraces a growth mindset and seeks out opportunities to learn and expand skill sets.
• Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
• Awareness to assist fellow technicians in the completion of their activities.
• Strong time management skills.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopes
• Experience with FTIR equipment
• Experience with Keyence imaging systems (VR, VK, VHX)
• Experience with Instron uniaxial tensile testers
• Experience in using SolidWorks
• Experience in using JMP
• Experience in using LabVIEW
• Familiarity with basic machine shop equipment.
