Title- Electrician I (Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility)
Location- Hoboken, NJ 07030
Duration- 3 months
Shift- 6:30 am - 3:00pm

 
Description:
 
As an Electrician, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in Hoboken, New Jersey at the North Hudson Sewerage Authority, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, and lighting equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; troubleshoot all electrical systems and subsystems, must know how to properly examine equipment failures to identify root cause and to prevent recurrences; plans and installs new equipment upgrades. Comply with all Health and Safety Practices and Procedures. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists in planning, scheduling the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of specialized mechanical and electrical equipment in a safe manner.
• Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustrations.
• Performs skilled electrical repair work on water/wastewater treatment plant equipment and related equipment.
• Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences.
• Assists Project with recordkeeping and prepares routine and special reports.
• Provides on-the-job training to less experienced employees.
• Performs preventive and corrective and predictive maintenance on mechanical and electrical machinery or equipment.
• Regularly inspects the working condition and maintains the cleanliness and safety of equipment and surrounding areas.
• Assist with review of capital improvement project studies, designs, and contract drawings.
• Forecast material and equipment needs and performs other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Possess a valid valid electrician certification.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
 
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Five years of experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment, or industrial setting with experience performing the following:
• Five years of electrical experience troubleshooting and repairing: motors, pump controls, VFD’s, motor operated valves, calibrating flow meters, lighting systems and other equipment related to wastewater treatment or similar industrial setting.
• Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Bend/install conduit to comply with NEC code.
• IR Thermography (basic knowledge) certification is not a requirement but may be asked to try and attain certification.
• Properly size wire to comply with NEC code.
• Motor / pulley alignment
• Troubleshooting a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment on site.
• Ability to prioritize the workload.
• Troubleshoot VFD, VFD controls, motor windings, lighting systems etc.
• Proficient in use of multimeters, meggers, loop calibrators and other diagnostic equipment.
• Intermediate knowledge of SCADA controls.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems.
• Familiarity with the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations and process control.
• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment and instruments used in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems including: Distributed Control Systems (DCS); Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) or PC based controls; Graphics human machine interface (HMI) or similar IO devices; Instrumentation communication networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus) or similar; Servers, drives, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), valves, etc.
 • Knowledge of related state and federal laws and regulations

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
