Job Description

As an EHS & Sustainability Specialist in the corrugated industry, your role is pivotal in maintaining safety, health, and environmental compliance within our facilities. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure workplace safety, minimize risks, and foster a culture of well-being.

Responsibilities
1.         Safety Compliance and Reporting:
  • Prepare and submit all necessary OSHA and environmental reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations specific to the corrugated industry, including 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations, 555 CFR Explosive Regulations, and EPA Waste Regulations.
  • Monitor and address safety concerns related to machinery, equipment, and processes.
2.         Health and Safety Programs:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective health and safety programs.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise for equipment modifications, safety assessments, and capital projects.
  • Deliver safety training sessions to employees, emphasizing industry-specific risks.
3.         Environmental Compliance:
  • Collaborate with environmental teams to ensure adherence to industry-specific environmental regulations.
  • Assist in designing and implementing site-specific environmental programs.
  • Evaluate compliance with permits, waste management plans, and pollution prevention measures.
4.         Sustainability:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the corrugator plant, aligned with organization sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Conduct assessments of current environmental practices, including energy consumption, waste generation, and water usage, to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact, such as energy efficiency projects, waste reduction programs, and water conservation measures.
  • Monitor and analyze key sustainability performance indicators, such as water usage intensity, and waste diversion rates, to track progress against targets, and areas for improvement, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and the best practices relevant to the corrugator plant industry, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance sustainability performance.
  • Engage with suppliers, customers, regulatory agencies, and community organizations to promote sustainability initiatives and foster partnership that support our sustainability goals.
  • Conduct training sessions to raise awareness of sustainability issues and promote employee’s engagement in sustainability efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits and certifications relevant to the corrugator plant operations, and coordinate with regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Practice in sustainability-related audits, assessments, and certifications and implement corrective actions as needed to address any non-compliance issues.
5.         Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree (e.g., Bachelor’s or University Degree) in fields such as Health, Engineering, Industrial Science, or Environmental Science.
  • Certifications: CPR, ASP, CSP, OSHA, CHST, CIH, CMSP, OHST, ISO, EHS.
6.         Desired Skills and Experience:
  • In-depth knowledge of corrugated industry safety standards.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations specific to manufacturing and industrial settings.
  • Experience implementing EHS programs to reduce incidents and enhance compliance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and influence change at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
