Job Description

Job Title: EH&S Manager
Duration: 3 Years
Location: Cambridge, MA
 
Description:
Seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety professional with background in OSHA compliance and contractor safety program management.
• Manage contractor safety programs for company’s Cambridge, MA location
• Review safe permits to work and job hazard analysis submitted by contractors to ensure adherence to company’s contractor safety requirements
• Partner with on site service providers to improve contract worker safety programs and culture
• Perform on-site safety inspections and pre job walkthroughs for contractor work and construction projects
• Partner with staff and contractors to correct inspection findings
• Monitor incident trends and assist management in conducting incident investigations to implement robust corrective actions to prevent future incidents and injuries
• Conduct in person contractor safety training
• Establish safe work procedures for hazardous work
• Conduct regular inspections of contractor work areas
• Trend and analyze EHS information and provide data intelligence and actions
• Provide expertise for several EHS programs including lock out tag out (LOTO), confined space entry, work at height, hot work, machine guarding, EHS training, job hazard analysis, and EHS change control assessments
• Support laboratory clients during lab safety inspections
• Partner with staff and site safety committee to advance safety culture and manage EHS risks
• Analyze metrics and establish annual action plans to drive continuous improvement
• Establish and complete risk assessment plans for clients to ensure all risks are proactively addressed and control systems are implemented and maintained
• Ensure changes with potential EHS impact are assessed and controls are established prior to implementation
• Conduct program maturity assessments and audits to drive action and continuous improvement
• Develop written EHS SOPs and guidance documents as needed
• Conduct regular EHSS management reviews with Client Leadership
 
Basic Qualifications:
• Doctorate degree OR
• Master’s degree and 3 years of Operations or Manufacturing experience Or
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Operations or Manufacturing experience Or
• Associate’s degree and 10 years of Operations or Manufacturing experience Or
• High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations or Manufacturing experience
 
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing industrial safety programs
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Risk evaluation and risk assessment experience
• Strong construction and contractor safety experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence management
• Strong presentation skills
• Action oriented, self-starting, program development and project management
• Strong technical writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems
 
Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets:   
  • Experience developing and reviewing OSHA compliant Job Hazard Analysis for a variety of high hazard activities (examples: safe use of hazardous materials, working at height / fall protection, control of hazardous energy or Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO))
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience coaching diverse populations on safety (performing safety job walks and inspections, demonstrates ability to effectively address safety concerns in the spot and proactively coach and plan for safe work)
  • Effective public speaker and trainer on a variety of safety topics.
