eDiscovery Law Clerk
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 1 day/week onsite)
Duration: 3 Months (Potential Extension/Conversion)
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET
 
Summary
We are seeking an eDiscovery Law Clerk to support legal and regulatory matters by managing the end-to-end eDiscovery process for litigation and investigations. This role involves coordinating legal holds, conducting custodian interviews, managing electronically stored information (ESI), supporting document review workflows, and collaborating with legal teams, external counsel, and technology partners. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with technology, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple litigation and regulatory matters from initiation through completion.
  • Coordinate legal hold activities, including drafting, issuing, monitoring, and releasing legal hold notices.
  • Conduct and document custodian interviews to identify relevant data sources.
  • Work with legal teams to identify custodians, search terms, and discovery requirements.
  • Coordinate the collection, preservation, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).
  • Maintain chain of custody documentation and case records.
  • Support the setup and administration of eDiscovery review platforms.
  • Assist legal counsel with review workflows, review instructions, quality control, and early case assessment.
  • Monitor project timelines and provide regular status updates on discovery matters.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and third-party vendors throughout the discovery process.
  • Provide guidance and technical support on eDiscovery processes and technology.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
 
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in the legal industry, or recent completion of a Law Clerk, Paralegal, or related post-secondary program.
  • Understanding of litigation processes, legal terminology, and legal documentation.
  • Comfortable learning and working with legal technology and software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with proofreading and document review experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Basic accounting and mathematical skills.
 
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience working within the financial services industry.
  • Experience supporting high-volume legal or litigation environments.
  • Previous eDiscovery experience.
  • Experience using Relativity or similar eDiscovery platforms.
