Job Title - Supplier Quality Engineer II
Location - Detroit, MI 48239
Duration - 18 months
Shift - Mon - Fri (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Workmode: Hybrid (4 days onsite)

Role Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer II is responsible for managing supplier performance and driving timely resolution of quality issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor supplier performance, quality KPIs, DPPM, complaints, and OTS.
• Drive corrective actions, containment, and timely resolution of supplier quality issues.
• Lead supplier improvement projects, audits, and continuous improvement.
• Perform root-cause analysis and prevent recurring non-conformances using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Lean, and AIAG tools.
• Support supplier quality goals, complaint investigation, and corrective action closure.
• Work cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and suppliers.
• Support Daimler Axle and Transmission assembly operations.
• Present technical/quality issues to suppliers and management.
• 30–50% travel required, primarily U.S./Mexico with potential international travel.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of related experience.
• Supplier Quality / Quality Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of GD&T, MSA, metallurgical requirements, and quality reports.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
• Manufacturing knowledge, preferably machining/forging.
• Experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/RCA.

Preferred

• SPC and project management experience.
• Knowledge of machining, casting, injection molding, stamping, or forging.
• Engine, Axle/Transmission component experience.
• Global supplier experience.
