Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Database Emphasis)
Duration: Term 6 + Months with possible move to FTE
Location: Remote – Must be available to work PHX hours

Position Description
The DevOps Engineer – Database Emphasis position in the DevOps team is a leader in creating software deployment strategies by designing patterns, processes, and methodologies that support the deployment, security, quality, stability, monitoring, and resiliency of application software.
The DevOps Engineer will have a strong understanding of database technologies and will play a key part in automating, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability of the team’s database infrastructure and related database tools and applications. The candidate will also provide knowledge and guidance on the database masking infrastructure owned by the DevOps team while ensuring our compliance with data privacy regulations.
Responsibilities:
  • Automate database provisioning, configuration management, patching, and masking routines.
  • Develop and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems to identify and troubleshoot performance and security issues.
  • Implement and manage data masking techniques (e.g., tokenization, redaction, dynamic masking) to protect sensitive data in development, testing, and staging environments.
  • Collaborate with developers, DBAs, and security teams to ensure secure deployments, efficient database utilization, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Design, develop, and implement secure CI/CD pipelines for database deployments and schema changes, focusing on data masking technologies.
  • Leverages expert knowledge of infrastructure operations, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, and Amazon Web Services to lead in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the software build engineering process, as well as perform product testing.
  • Work within our AWS environment to identify areas where automation can be used to reduce costs and increase the delivery of updates to production.
  • Administer and manage tools required for DevOps practices.
  • Creates POC’s (Proof of Concept) on new tools and practices. Learn and understand new tools and analyze the benefits to the organization. Keep abreast about industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology field plus 5 years post baccalaureate experience. Progressive DevOps engineering experience including Databases, CI/CD pipeline creation, automation of processes, AWS technologies, Git and Trunk based branching strategies.
  • Proven experience with scripting languages like Groovy, Python, or Bash and programming languages like Java.
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DocumentDB).
  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Amazon Redshift, etc.) and data masking tools (e.g., DataMasque, Delphix).
  • Experience with the DevOps toolchain, including but not limited to Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, Maven, and Bitbucket.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Terraform).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments.
  • Configure and maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting systems e.g., Datadog, with the ability to enhance our current monitoring, develop new ways to monitor, and add observability to identify and troubleshoot issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, operations, and product teams to ensure smooth deployments and efficient infrastructure utilization.
  • Continuously improve and optimize the software delivery process with a focus on secure deployments.
  • Stay up to date on the latest DevOps tools and methodologies (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, containerization).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
