Role Overview
Core Modernization is a transformative initiative designed to elevate foundational technology to meet today’s business demands and prepare for the future. The centerpiece of this program is a major upgrade to our policy administration system—an essential platform that manages the full spectrum of insurance policy transactions, including premium collection, loans, beneficiary management, claims processing, and policy renewals.
For nearly sixty years, this system has supported client and agent experiences while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This modernization effort replaces legacy infrastructure with state?of?the?art technology, enabling faster innovation, reduced servicing friction, and improved client and agent experiences—positioning New York Life at the forefront of the industry.
As a Senior Associate, LIS Tool Developer, you will join the team and play an essential role in the Core Modernization initiative. You will support the development, testing, and maintenance of Excel?based scenario testing tools used to validate product behavior in the new policy administration system. Your expertise in Universal Life and/or Whole Life products, strong Excel modeling skills, and clear communication will be vital to ensuring accurate policy lifecycle values and a successful system transition.
What You’ll Do
As part of the Core Modernization program, company must configure retail life insurance products into the new policy administration system and validate that the system produces accurate values throughout the policy lifecycle. To accomplish this, scenario testing tools must be created for each product to compare results from the new system.
Core Responsibilities
Design and update Excel-based scenario testing tools to support product configuration and lifecycle analysis for Retail Life products
Build, test, and maintain accurate and reliable testing tools as we migrate to the new policy administration system
Collaborate closely with the Automation Development team to integrate automation features and ensure seamless interaction with testing tools
Monitor tool efficiency and reliability, making improvements to usability and performance
Provide clear documentation and communicate findings across the team to support product development and modernization efforts
Required Skills

Preferred Skills
Experience with Excel VBA
Experience working in an Agile software development environment
Working knowledge of QA review and testing processes, including designing test scenarios, understanding testing techniques and tools, and recognizing technology impacts
