Job Description

Title: Data Consultant 
Location: Deerfield, IL (Remote)
Duration: 12 months (Temp to Hire)
 
Summary:
The Data Steward, or “Data Domain Lead” is accountable for many aspects of data management. This role must be fluent in data concepts & principles, data governance, and data quality. Their functional knowledge is required to further the aims and objectives of the data governance organization, as well as servicing the data needs of the Business Function(s) for which they are responsible for. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cataloging critical data assets for the organizational while providing insights and guidance for improving the quality and effectiveness of those assets.
 
This role will be a part of the Data Governance organization reporting to the Associate Director of Data Governance, but must closely partner with Business Teams, IT Leads, and Data Consumers to create and execute a comprehensive data strategy. A significant amount of time will be spent in direct contact with business contacts for the assigned domain--learning data requirements, usage, and issues that will be addressed by the data strategy.
 
This individual will be expected to help foster a data driven culture for our internal and external customers.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the creation and execution of the end-to-end data strategy for the finance area, including but not limited to:
    1. Identification and documentation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting requirements, and analytics.
    2. Determine the current source systems of record, data required in the Enterprise Data Hub (or similar repositories), and end reporting solutions/uses, e.g. Tableau and Power BI.
    3. Lead subject area core team consisting of Enterprise Architecture, Data Delivery, Reporting and Analytics, and necessary key business resources towards achieving data objectives.
  2. Curate the data catalog/data marketplace and “market” its use, including but not limited to: data glossary, data quality, business rules, KPIs, etc.
  3. Report metrics on % of artifacts cataloged: applications, tables, fields, glossary items, data quality requirements, established lineage paths, users, etc.
  4. Identify, educate, and develop key data contacts among the business community and facilitate ongoing engagement necessary to achieve Data Governance objectives and meet business community needs.
  5. Identify and certify data “sources of record”.
  6. Partner with Data Analysts to determine and document data quality standards for data within applicable domain(s) and then partner with IT to ensure they are implemented on underlying datasets.
Demonstrated Skills and Experiences in:
  • Operational Finance subject matter expertise in terms of reporting & analytics and associated data requirements. This includes financial acumen associated with:
    • P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, Sales Reporting
    • Planning and Budget processes
    • Finance systems, e.g. ERP, Planning, Consolidations
    • Reporting tools, e.g. Tableau, Power BI
  • Blend of technical and business/functional acumen.
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional team towards shared objectives.
  • Demonstrated passion for stakeholder engagement and support.
  • Ability to deliver training and mentoring for key business data contacts.
  • Strong organizational/project management skills, process-oriented and great attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize or escalate if prioritization assistance is needed.
  • Empathy, curiosity, and desire to constantly improve, acquire new skills and drive for results.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience working with global or regional stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with Data Governance tools, preferably Collibra, and execution.
  • Industry experience in MedTech preferred.
  • Knowledge of data related industry regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Demonstrate experience of leadership within a team.
  • English fluency.
