Title -- Communications Specialist
Duration – 05 Months
Location – Waukegan, IL 60085 - Hybrid (3 days in the office)
Description:
• Create, execute, and ensure timely delivery of communications for technology deployments to the global business community.
• Example communications include mobile operating system updates, planned server downtime, operational updates, application updates, SharePoint site recertification, Change Advisory Board updates, and ad-hoc/one-time technical deployment communications.
• Distributions channels include targeted end user emails, company's news articles, short online posts in social collaboration channels such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint site news articles, digital signage and weekly newsletters and other internal communication channels.
• This role reports to the Communications Lead and will attend regular staff and one-on-one meetings, and all project meetings as required.
Responsibilities
• Write, edit, and develop engaging and visually appealing communications in support of operations and projects targeting business colleagues using simple and succinct language to describe technical changes.
• Utilize standard IT communication templates and processes for deploying global communications. Ensure all communication deliverables are aligned with branding guidelines; format, organize, and package communication assets prior to delivery.
• Manage Infrastructure Maintenance Communications service request intake process. Partner with various requestors across Infrastructure to create simple, user-focused communications.
• Collaborate with Communications Lead, Communications Specialists, Change Management Practitioners, Instructional Designers on various projects to share best practices.
• Utilize established logs and status reports to document work and productivity.
• Work with the Communications Lead to identify and pursue related initiatives that will improve internal communications, promote employee engagement, and support/promote company culture and shared values.
Qualifications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with and influence coworkers, project team members, and various levels across the organization, including executives.
• Proactive, creative, and detail-oriented team player who is also flexible and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Ability to adapt communication style, techniques or methods to meet end user needs, observe and interpret behavioral cues, listen with empathy to understand users’ frame of reference, coach and provide feedback.
• Experience developing and issuing communications using email delivery platforms such as Staffbase preferred.
• Curious learner who asks questions to determine best course of action.
• Ability to quickly learn productivity and collaboration tools to fully engage with team members including Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Degree in communications or journalism.
