Job Description

Job Title: Accounts Receivable specialist
Duration: 8+ Months
Location: Toronto, ON M5J 2R8, Canada (Hybrid: 3x/week onsite)


Job Overview:
The contractor will manage the accounts receivable portfolio to ensure timely collections, positively impacting Client's cash flow. Healthy cash flow supports operating expenses, R&D investments, and influences the company's stock price. This role involves addressing customer payment issues, reconciling accounts, resolving disputes, and collaborating across departments.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Responding to customer emails generated by dunning letters.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to address account issues.
  • Proactively reaching out to customers via email and phone to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Reconciling complex accounts and meeting with customers to review account statements.
  • Creating internal cases and utilizing the reports and dashboards to analyze portfolio data.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate collection calls on assigned accounts per Invoice Life Cycle Guidelines, assessing account solvency and willingness to pay.
  • Provide necessary documentation to facilitate customer payments.
  • Resolve customer billing disputes in collaboration with Sales Operations and Sales teams.
  • Escalate problematic accounts to Credit and Sales management.
  • Collaborate with credit analysts on financially distressed accounts.
  • Negotiate payment plans for distressed accounts.
  • Recommend account suspensions after due collection efforts.
  • Participate in process improvement projects as assigned.
  • Generate reports on the assigned portfolio for credit management as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Provide training as needed.
Preferred Skill Sets:
  • Must-have skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, analytical skills, strong organization, and time management.
  • Teachable skills: Salesforce experience, collections experience.
  • Optional skills: Data analytics, process improvement, Salesforce expertise.
Qualifications:
  • 1–2 years of collections experience in a high-growth environment.
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives or project management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thrives in a team setting and excels in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
