Job Description

Job Title: Chemist 
Location: Lake County / North Chicago, IL 60064
Duration: 12 Months (possibility of extension)
 
**Ideal candidates will probably either come from an academic lab where they purified proteins in a technician role or might come from a CMO where they did small-scale protein purification to support process development.**
 
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks.
  • Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters.
  • Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
  • Presents conclusions of defined experiments.
  • Ensures safety requirements are met when performing tasks.
  • Ensures timely compliant delivery of high-quality precise data
 
Requirements:
  • BS/BA in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or related field with 2-5 yrs biochemistry lab experience or Masters Degree.
  • Experience in Protein Chromatography (SEC, Ion exchange, RPLC. Experience with a chromatography data system is a plus, but not required, we will train.
  • Understanding of how to use analytical instruments including HPLC and electrophoresis for separations.
  • Solid documentation skills, familiarity with electronic lab notebook a plus.
  • Able to present findings to larger groups.
