Job Description

Position Title: Bilingual Claims Specialist
Duration: 6 Months
Working Hours: 8:30am – 5pm
Working Location: 60 Yonge St – Hybrid (in office Wednesdays). Please note team will be moving to 250 Yonge St. in June and in office days will then be Monday/Thursdays.
 
Role Mandate: The selected candidate(s) will provide accurate and professional service by telephone, or e-mail. They will assist in processing death claim benefits to applicable beneficiaries. They will support administrative requirements to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
 
Role Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
  • Adjudicate assigned death benefit claims (20+ per day), including investigating claim details to determine validity, and communicating decisions verbally and in writing as required, and signing to release payments.
  • Process death benefit claims to appropriate beneficiaries via Capsil.
  • Manages assigned case load in an effective manner, escalating any issues or concerns, to ensure ongoing effective claim operations.
  • Manage claim requirement follow ups (via email, phone, or letter writing).
  • Addresses any claimant or policyholder issue as part of the conversation, escalating as required for any complaint situation.
  • Follows established policies & procedures including authority and signing authority to manage the risks inherent in claims operations and escalate any issues or concerns.
  • Participates in quality reviews addressing any issues identified to help reduce risk inherent in claims operations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
 
Must-Have Skills:
  • 1+ yr relevant claims processing experience (open to entry level).
  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Post secondary degree required.
  • Proficient in MS Office and tech savvy.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to keep information organized and confidential.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Verbal & written communication skills – Good
  • Detail oriented.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume setting.
  • Previous office (insurance or banking) experience a nice to have.
  • Medical terminology course nice to have.
  • Experience with Capsil an asset.
 
Interview Process:
  • 1 Round – 30 min Teams meeting with HM and HM’s one-up
  • Format will consist of behavioral and getting to know you type questions and assessing French language competence.
