Position Title: Associate Director, Global Medical Communications, Gastroenterology (GI), IBD Assignment Duration: 12 Months Work Arrangement: Remote
Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Global Medical Communications is a dynamic, strategic role within Global Medical Affairs that collaborates with cross-functional partners to oversee one or more disease areas / assets on a Global level.
Responsible for the strategic co-development and execution of medical communication plans encompassing tactics such as core content, scientific communication platforms, HCP education, congress activities, digital initiatives, and communication planning
Lead medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials
Apply medical communications expertise and business acumen to further therapeutic area and global medical communication strategy
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Global Medical Communications leads and is accountable for asset level medical communication strategies and implementation
Leads Medical Communication initiatives, ensuring quality and timely delivery against medical plans
Interface with cross-functional teams to provide scientific leadership and technical expertise across GI, contributing to launch and life-cycle management of a medical unit
Lead and execute diverse medical communication tactics related to core content (e.g. slide decks), scientific communication platforms (SCP), HCP education (e.g. symposia), congress activities (e.g. medical booth), digital initiatives (e.g. webinars), and communication planning (e.g. integrated communications plans)
Coordinate with the Group Lead to monitor performance of goals and delivery of medical communications plans
Mentorship or matrix management of global medical communications colleagues, fellows, managers, and senior managers
Oversee budget, financial forecasting, and vendor management for assigned asset(s)
Participate in the International CMLR review process as required and ensure materials are medically sound and aligned with relevant company strategy
Work with Legal and Regulatory colleagues to resolve questions and provide leadership in concept design and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials.
Provide Medical Affairs representation during concept design of materials
Ensure materials adhere to the International CMLR standards and that data is communicated in an ethical, compliant, and accurate manner
Dimensions and aspects: Technical/Functional:
Possesses deep level of understanding of core Medical Communications materials (scientific platform, lexicon, core slide decks, communication plan, etc) and can fairly independently drive updates/revisions to these materials.
Knowledge of the GI therapeutic area is a plus

Interaction
Leads engagement with internal key stakeholders (i.e. Global Medical Affairs strategy, TAU, Global Outcomes Research and Epidemiology [GEO], biostats, GPT/GPLS, Region/LOCs, and Publications) independently and on a regular basis.
Creates an internal and external sphere of influence in area of expertise (e.g. networking and speaking at professional conferences)

Qualification & Experience:
A relevant healthcare degree is required. A medical or scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, RN, MS, etc) is preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably within a matrix structure and medical affairs roles (e.g. Medical Science Liaison, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Medical Education, Publications) for candidates with doctoral degree. Minimum 7 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry for candidates with a master’s degree

Knowledge of the GI therapeutic area is a plus

Good knowledge of medical communication approaches and best practices
Familiarity with international regulatory and legal guidelines regarding medical communication strategy and execution
Previous experience in GI is a plus
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Up to 20% travel for congresses and offsite meetings may be required.
